TRILAINA McCALLUM

Trilaina T. (Ransom) McCallum first began dancing during elementary school at Boston City lights in Boston's South End.  It was during this time, that she realized a true love and passion for movement to music.  She decided to enroll in formal ballet and Isadora Duncan modern dance training with The Classical School of Ballet at 11 years old where she danced on scholarship until graduating from high school.  During her middle school years, she met OrigiNations Artistic Director, Shaumba Yandje Dibinga at the James P. Timilty Middle School in Roxbury, MA where she was encouraged to attend a Nia Dance Troupe rehearsal.  At this, there was no turning back.  Trilaina quickly fell in love with Hip-Hop and African dance and the plethora of opportunity to perform around the city. While a member of Nia Dance Troupe, Trilaina became an OrigiNation instructor teaching the adolescent Ballet and Creative Movement classes.  It was through her time, and experiences with OrigiNation, that Trilaina's began to realize her desire to work with young people.  Today, Trilaina is a wife, a mom of 2 children (Avienne and Benjamin) and a High School Counselor. Though she is now living in another state, Trilaina is still very much a part of the OrigiNation family.
